Tutoring Services

Student Success Center Logo

The Student Success Center offers academic assistance through a variety of teaching, tutoring, and assessment services designed to help students succeed in college.  Our goal is to support and expand the students’ classroom experiences.

Tutoring is FREE and provided through peer tutors and professional tutors. Students are encouraged to use the BMCC Student Success Center, in addition to the academic enrichment courses, to develop their skills in areas such as reading, writing, and basic math. No need to schedule an appointment!

If we don't have a tutor in the subject you are looking for or there is a schedule conflict, click here to download a Tutor Request Form and bring the completed form to the Student Success Center. The staff at the center will make every effort to find a tutor that fits your needs.

Online students may use our free online tutoring service, Brainfuse, which is available via a link in each online Moodle course. Online Tutoring for Math, English and Writing is available 24hrs/day. Please click here for more information.

  1. It is important for you to have an idea of what you want to work on.  The tutoring session depends on what your needs are, tell your tutor what you want to improve.
  2. Tutoring sessions do not replace class instruction or independent work, but do offer reinforcement, practice, clarification, and suggestions for improvement.
  3. Tutoring sessions help you understand better what your instructor expects you to do, where your errors are, and how you can improve. The responsibility to accomplish your work after guidance from your tutor is still yours.
