BMCC conducts National Science Foundation STEM research: students complete survey for chance to win gas card
Over the past year, BMCC has been working to find ways to expand on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs. We surveyed EUP employers in the health care, natural resources, engineering/manufacturing, and agriculture fields. We were able to gain information about current and future employment needs, and the skills required for those jobs.
During the final weeks of fall semester, BMCC students were asked via Moodle message to complete a survey about their interests in STEM careers. In total, 66 students completed the survey! Students completing the survey were placed into a random drawing for one of thirty-five $50 gas cards. Winners will be emailed during the middle of January at the email address they provided on the survey.
Results of this project will be used to identify new STEM programs, courses, and projects that both interest students and are locally employable. This project is funded by the National Science Foundation (award number 1719668).
