Services


Academic Workshops
Workshops such as study skills, test taking, transfer and computer awareness will be provided in order to provide students the skills necessary to succeed.

Advising
Advisors work closely with faculty academic advisors in course selection, scheduling and realistic class loads as well as helping students access services provided through other BMCC resources.

Counseling
Advisors assist participants with personal issues and will provide intervention and assist with accessing services from other agencies.

Tutorial Services

TRIO provides professional tutors to meet the needs of students in English, Math, Business, and Computer areas.

Transfer Assistance

Assistance with transferring and visits to other campuses are provided to students who may be planning to continue their education at four-year universities.

Financial Aid Counseling

Advisors assist students with seeking and applying for financial aid through various grants and scholarships.

Supplies/Equipment
Calculators, recorders and laptops are available on a loan basis for students who may need supplemental resources.

Learning Styles Counseling

Advisors will assist students in developing strong study skills and habits by assessing the student's learning styles and how best to integrate these into the academic environment.

Career Testing and Counseling

Advisors will assist students in matching interests and talents with majors and/or various career options.

Financial Awards

A limited number of financial awards are available to TRiO-SSS participants who meet additional criteria.

Eligibility

Any BMCC student is eligible to receive TRiO-SSS services if they are
pel grant eligible and/or:

a first generation college student
(neither parent has a four-year degree)

Application


BMCC students interested in receiving TRiO-SSS services must complete an application and academic needs assessment to determine eligibility. Eligibility will be reviewed and determined by the TRiO-SSS Director. Applications may be picked up from any TRiO-SSS staff.
