Campus Visit LSSU
On February 23, 2007 Nikki Dowd, Kelly Bedell and Trio Students; Chris Carrick, Paula Gustofson, Tessa Laaksonen, Robin Morley, Judy Odbert, Tammy Sanderson, Laura Parish, Dianne Tremblay and Mitchell Willis had the opportunity to visit the LSSU campus. The tour included a campus tour, as well as visiting the Native American Center, Campus Shoppe, a Planetarium Presentation, and a comprehensive presentation by the Dean of Nursing. The group had lunch on campus and dinner at Angios, followed by the Lakers vs. Western Michigan Hockey Game.
Spring Retreat
The Spring Retreat will be held on April 26 th, 12 pm to 3 pm at the Horizons Conference Center. This year’s keynote speaker will be Rich Niemiec, former TRiO student who graduated from Purdue University and is now the CEO of TUSC, The Oracle Experts. Rich is a dynamic speaker and his success story is inspiring and full of energy.
United Way Blood Drive
Congratulations to everyone who helped make the BMCC blood drive a huge success. Thanks to your efforts we collected 38 pints of blood and 7 people donated for the first time. Every unit collected could help up to three patients; the units collected at this drive could potentially help over 110 patients.
Budget Workshop
Wednesday March 21, 2007 Soo Co-op Credit Union will be holding a Budgeting / Credit Card Pitfalls Workshop from 1 to 2 P.M. in Room 103. Refreshments will be provided.
Last Chance Volunteer Opportunities
If you have not put in your volunteer hours for this semester – here are the last opportunities to do so.
Tendercare – Saturday, March 17 th from 10 am to 12 pm. Sign up sheet is in the TR iO computer lab.
Chili Cook-off – there are only several opportunities to volunteer at the cook-off. These opportunities will only be for students who could not volunteer due to work or childcare conflicts. If you are interested please see Nikki Dowd for more information.
Reminders
Graduates - If you are graduating this spring please see Krista Curtis to get measured for your cap and gown. You should have also met with your academic advisor for a degree audit by March 1 st. If you have not done so, please make arrangements to get this done ASAP.
Don’t forget! Free professional tutoring is available to TR iO students. Tutor schedules are posted in the TR iO computer lab.
