New TR iO Intern
We have a new TR iO SSS student intern, Tammy Sanderson. She has recently relocated to Sault Ste Marie from Arizona. Tammy is pursuing a degree in Social Science. Welcome aboard!
TR iO Blood Drive a Huge Success
Congratulations to everyone who helped make the TR iO BMCC blood drive a success. Thanks to your efforts, we collected 49 pints of blood and 12 people donated for the first time. Since every unit collected could help up to three patients, the units collected at this drive could potentially help over 150 patients.

United Way Walk for Warmth
On October 21 st, twenty TR iO students participated in the annual Walk for Warmth. TR iO students contributed $1,269.00 to United Way.
TR iO Bowl-A-Rama
On October 14 th twelve TR iO students participated in the annual Bowl-A-Rama held at Don-Dee Lanes. 4 Students were not able to bowl, but did contribute money. Students raised $341.00 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
TR iO Fall Retreat was a Success
On Friday September 29th the Fall Retreat was held at the Lodge. Thirty TR iO students attended this year’s retreat. Deb LeBlanc, Director of TR iO SSS, presented a workshop on “The History of the Higher Education Act and the TR iO Programs.” Former TR iO students also attended and spoke about the transferring process. Lunch was provided and door prizes were awarded.
TR iO Students Tour University of Michigan
On Thursday, October 26 th, TR iO Advisor, Nikki Dowd and nine students departed from BMCC to travel to Ann Arbor Michigan for a tour of the University of Michigan. The group enjoyed a night out to a local comedy club, dinner at an authentic Italian restaurant, a tour of U of M, and the highlight of the trip, sixth row seats at a U of M football game. The group had a great time and returned home culturally enriched from the experience.
Halloween Festivities
On October 27 th thirteen TR iO students pitched in and helped make this years Bay Mills Boys and Girls Club Halloween festivities a success.
TR iO Students Clean Up Pond
On November 12, 2006 ten TR iO students volunteered their time to help with the Pond Clean up project. On October 9 th nine students also volunteered their time.


Campus Visit – Northern Michigan University
February 2, 2007, TR iO students will have an opportunity to visit Northern Michigan University and attend a Hockey game. A sign up sheet and detailed information is posted in the TR iO lab.
Reminder
Don’t forget to schedule an appointment with your TR iO advisor for November 2006. If your GPA is 2.7 or lower you will need to make arrangements for professional tutoring through TR iO. Tutoring schedules are posted in the TR iO lab.
Laptop and Calculator Returns
All TR iO equipment needs to be returned to Deb LeBlanc for the Winter Break. You can drop off equipment on Dec 13, 2006 between 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. or on Dec 14, 2006 between 10:00 A.M. and Noon.
