State Policy Seminar was a Success!

Our TRiO students joined other TRiO students from around Michigan to meet with their state representatives and senators to share what TRiO has done for them. They also toured the capitol, Michigan State and Central Michigan Universities. To view their group photo, with Senator Jason Allen please see “What’s New” on BMCC’s web page.

New and Returning TRiO SSS Students

All new and returning TRiO SSS Students will need to update their Student Success Plans for FA05. TRiO Students need to schedule appointments with their TRiO advisor before being eligible for TRiO funds, to go on trips, or to check out laptops and calculators. TRiO students must be active participants in TRiO SSS for services.

Grant Aid Eligibility

Effective immediately, all TRiO SSS students will be required to complete a minimum of two hours volunteer work each semester to satisfy grant aid criteria for TRiO (see attached).

Seeking New TRiO Students

If you know any students that are: first generation, pel grant eligible, have a disability, have attended or been advised to take an AE class, are working toward a degree, or meet some of the criteria above, have them contact Deb Leblanc. She can then determine eligibility for TRiO SSS and if they become active in TRiO you will receive a vault!

Hurricane Relief Fund

On September 22nd, several TRiO students volunteered their time for a bake sale which raised $673 for the TRiO Hurricane Relief Fund targeted for TRiO students and their families impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time.

Volunteer Opportunities

There will be a Bowl-o-rama for Big Brothers Big Sisters on Saturday, October 15th and an annual “Walk for Warmth” on Saturday, October 22nd. Please see Nikki Dowd for more details.
