Transfer Workshop
On November 11, 2005, TRiO SSS staff held a transfer workshop for students planning to transfer to a University for a Bachelors degree. We had many former TRiO students from several Universities here to talk about the obstacles as well as the steps to take when transferring. The speakers included: Joe Lucier, Gail Crazythunder-Marsh, Jeff Gaus, Terry Davis, Deb Zabelka, Floyd Perry, Laura Carlson, Rochelle Menominee, Dr. Erkila (Finance Professor at LSSU), Ryan Morningstar, and Dennis Yake. Gail Crazythunder-Marsh made pamphlets for all of our current TRiO students covering important issues to consider when deciding to transfer. Please stop by and get one from your TRiO Advisor. We had a very small turnout this year. However, next year we will be adding the Transfer Workshop to the Fall Retreat agenda so that more students will be able to attend.
Transfer Trip to Northern
Kelly Bedell is taking TRiO SSS students on a transfer trip to Northern Michigan University on Thursday, December 8, 2005. They will be returning on Friday, December 9, 2005. The trip includes: touring Northern’s campus, meeting with the TRiO SSS Department, and attending a theatrical production of “Scrooge”.

Nikki will be taking TRiO students on a transfer trip in February. Final dates and plans will be announced in the next newsletter. For further information or if you have any questions see Nikki Dowd.

Please remember to register for Winter semester and don’t forget to make an appointment with your TRiO advisor to do a Student Success Plan as soon as possible next semester.
Volunteering
Students that volunteered this semester did a great job. Continue to see Nikki Dowd for volunteer opportunities and remember—your volunteer efforts do make a difference!
