Bay Mills Community College Admissions
INSTRUCTIONS AND POLICIES
Admissions Policy
Bay Mills Community College and its virtual college, Nishnaabek
Kinoomaadewin, practice an open door admission policy by providing educational
programs to individuals regardless of their academic backgrounds. Students
seeking admission to degree and certificate programs are required to submit
High School transcripts or proof of GED completion. Students without a
high school diploma who are at least eighteen years of age are admitted
under Special Student Status and allowed one year to complete their high
school diploma or earn a GED.
Transfer Applicants
Applicants are admitted to advanced standing upon presentation
of an official transcript of credits earned from another college. Credits
will be granted to the extent that the subjects for which credit is requested
are parallel in content and intensity in the subjects offered at BMCC.
Transfer of credit toward any certificate or degree program will be limited
to forty percent (40%) of the total number of credit hours for that diploma.
High School Students
Bay Mills and Nishnaabek Kinoomaadewin Virtual College will accept juniors and
seniors in high school who have completed the admissions procedures and have
the written approval of the high school counselor or principal. High school
students may not take more than two courses per semester. High school students
are not eligible for financial aid. High School students must have a 3.0 grade
point average or better to be considered for admission. Credit for the classes
will be deferred until the student has graduated from high school or receives
a high school equivalency certificate.
Orientation and Registration
It is strongly suggested that online students take the four credit course, "CS105: Basic
Computer and Internet Skills," as part of their orientation. On-campus orientation
is held on campus. If you live close to Bay Mills, you might wish to attend
our orientation. You are welcome to attend our potlucks and all other cultural events as well. The on-campus orientation session
features a tour of the college, pre-registration advisement and an opportunity
to meet other students, faculty and staff.
Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid, students must obtain a financial
aid packet from the Financial Aid Office, complete the forms enclosed, and
submit the packet according to the instructions. Students must also submit
to the Financial Aid Office all requested documents needed to complete
their financial aid file.
Accreditation
Bay Mills Community College is accredited by the Commission
on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of
Colleges and Schools.
Policy of Non-Discrimination
Bay Mills Community College adheres to a policy of non-discrimination
in the treatment of all persons regardless of race, creed, color, sex,
natural origin or ancestry, political ideals, physical or mental handicap,
or marital status. This policy extends to employment and submission to
Bay Mills.
